【MVS】Exadata X8-2 iLO重置报警

客户反馈Exaata x8-2 某一节点iLO重置，

“Power : Reset : major : /SP has been reset by: IPMI,”

查 MOS     Exadata Storage Cells and DB Nodes reset ILOM periodically (Doc ID 2099390.1)，ILOM模块会定期90天重启。

结合告警里面的关键信息，Power : Reset : major : /SP has been reset by: IPMI,，即IPMI发出的RESET指令，结合MOS文档说明，此告警解除，可以忽略。

Symptoms

A user may notice that the ILOM of an Exadata's Storage Cells and DB Nodes will be reset occasionally.

When this happens the following entry in the system event list may be seen-

 89   Thu Jul 9 20:33:25 2015 Power Reset major   /SP has been reset by: IPMI, Reason: Set PSU state

When the ILOM is reset you will notice that the network switch connected to the network management port will report a "Link Down" for the port while the reset is in progress.

Also of note is that the OS will log the disconnecting of the ILOM's virtual usb devices CD-ROM/floppy/etc.

 

Cause

Starting with Exadata release 11.2.3.3.0 each server has it's own periodic reset time which will perform a reset of the ILOM every 90 days.

In addition to these scheduled resets the MS process can also reset ILOM prior to the periodic target reset time if it times out when accessing the ILOM.

When this reset is initiated by the Exadata software the following entry will be seen in the ms-odl.log file

[2014-05-11T17:58:51.006+09:00] [ossmgmt] [NOTIFICATION] [] [common.hwadapter.bmcadp.BmcIpmiTool] [tid: 38] [ecid: nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn:75793:1399798731006:174860,0] Periodic reset interval is up. The ILOM will now be reset.

Solution

 This behavior is normal and expected. The Exadata system is configured so that a Server's ILOM is reset every 90 days.
