None of STP, RSTP and MSTP distinguishes VLAN. For STP and RSTP, as devices in the entire network can be on only one spanning tree, any redundant link will be blocked completely, and the port is in the DISCARDING state, not forwarding data.
For MSTP, as each instance corresponds to one spanning tree, there will be multiple spanning trees if multiple instances are configured. Such spanning trees may have different roots and thus the trees are different. For the same physical line, some of the spanning trees allow packets to pass while some of them do not. Different VLANs are configured in different instances and go along the spanning trees to which their respective instances correspond.
