S9500 adopts storing-and-forwarding mechanism to forward the data, in other words, data is cached in S9500. The cache spaces are of the same size for any board and allocated to each port evenly by default. As the GE board has only a few ports and each port is allocated with a large cache space, if at some time the rate of the GE port receiving packets is larger than that of the FE port and some packets cannot be forwarded timely, these packets will be dropped in S9500 and have to be re-transmitted. For this reason, it takes a long time to copy files.
The problem can be avoided by sharing caches among the ports of the FE board with the share descriptors command.
