S9500 discriminates the protocol multicast packets according to the destination MAC addresses (224.0.0.1 and 224.0.1.1, the packets with these destination addresses need to be delivered to CPU and not forwarded as usual) and delivers them to CPU for processing.
As the multicast MAC addresses are formed by the last 23 bits of the multicast IP addresses, there is a problem that 32 multicast IP corresponds to the same multicast MAC address and to filter 224.0.0.* and 224.0.1.1 becomes to filter *.0.0.*, *.0.1.1, *.128.0.* and *.128.1.1. All the packets with these destination IP are taken as protocol multicast packet and are delivered to CPU rather than forwarded.
