How to Login to the Router

 

1 Setting Up Configuration Environment

The Quidway series routers can be configured only by the Console port during the initial installation.

2 Connecting Cables

Step 1: Connect the DB-9 (or DB-25) connector of the configuration cable to the serial port of the PC or terminal where the router is to be configured.

Step 2: Connect the RJ-45 connector of the configuration cable to the Console port of the router.

3 Setting Parameters for the PC or Terminal

Step 1: Power on the PC or terminal.

To configure with the PC, you need to run the terminal emulation program, such as the Windows HyperTerminal, on the PC.

Step 2: Set the terminal parameters.

Parameter requirements:

Set the baud rate to 9600, data bit to 8, no parity check, stop bit to 1, no flow control, and terminal emulation to VT100.

Set parameters for the Windows98 HyperTerminal as follows:

(1)      Click the Attribute button in the following HyperTerminal window.

 

(2)      Choose the serial port to be connected from Used when Connecting in the HyperTerminal attribute dialog box, make sure that it is the one connected with the configuration cable, and then click Configure.

 

(3)      Set the baud rate to 9600, data bit to 8, no parity check, stop bit to 1 and then click OK.

(4)      Select the Settings tab in the following dialog box, set terminal emulation to VT100, and then click OK.no flow control as shown in the following dialog box, and then click OK.

1.2.4 Powering On the Router

Make sure that the router is correctly connected to the configuration terminal, and then power on the router after setting the terminal parameters. You will see the self-test information.

The preceding operations apply to all network equipment of H3C.
