8ASE/16ASE Modules of H3C Series Routers

I.         Module Introduction

8ASE/16ASE is the short of enhanced 8/16-port asynchronous serial port module.

Like AS module, ASE module is primarily used to receive/send and process the asynchronous serial port data follow. The difference is at the connector and cable used. ASE module uses RJ45 connector and AUX cable.

II.      Module Appearance

8ASE/16ASE module has one indicator for each channel located in the lowest arrange of holes. Light frequently represents LINK (the link is connected) and flash represents ACTIVE (some data has been received/sent).

III.   Interface Attribute

IV.    Interface Cable

8ASE/16ASE module uses two kinds of interface cables: one is AUX cable. Its appearance see AUX cable contents in “Quidway Series Router Installation Manual”; the other is dumb terminal cable (RJ45-RJ45) used by bank, which is made of network cable. See “Medium/Low End Series Router Cable Manual” for connection relations of two cables.

Note:

AUX cable is optional. Users need to purchase first when purchasing 8ASE/16ASE module, or it is unavailable. If dumb terminal cable is needed, please users make it by himself according to the specifications in “Medium/Low End Series Router Cable Manual”.

Connection of Interface Cable

Warning:

Strictly prohibit to insert in/out SAE module interface cable when router starts, or this will cause device and port damage easily.

 

Note:

Please identify the mark on the interface to avoid inserting other interfaces, causing inerfface module or router host damage.

 

Step 1: Confirm the interface type of the peer, and select the correct cable.

Step 2: Connect one end of 8ASE/16ASE cable to router and the other to the peer.

l              For AUX cable

Attach DB25/DB9 connector of the other side to the network device, generally Modem.

l              For dumb terminal cable

Attach RJ45 connector (female) of the other side to the standard network cable, and attach the standard network cable to dumb terminal-special converter.

Step 3: After start, please check the indicators of corresponding slots on the router front panel. Light represents self-test is completed and the module works well. Extinguished represents self-test is not pass, please contact agent.

Step 4: After start, please check the indicator state of 8ASE/16ASE module panel. Light represents the link is connected. Extinguished represents the link is not connected, please check the line.
